MAHEM

Mahem is the Afrikaans name for the grey crowned crane. The actual call of the grey crowned crane is "mahem" and you will hear the call from the house most times in the early morning or evening.

Built around 1890, this spacious but cozy home has been refurbished and extended to make a large entertainment area and open plan layout from the lounge to the adjacent kitchen.

  • There are 4 bedrooms and a bathroom section with a full bathroom with shower, toilet and bath, a separate toilet, and a separate shower room.
  • All bedrooms have wall heaters. Bedding and towels are supplied. The property is fenced.
  • There is a fireplace in the lounge and an old coal stove in the dining room.
  • The bathroom/dining room/kitchen area has underfloor heating.
  • The farm kitchen is fully equipped for self catering and has two fridges, a gas stove with electric oven, microwave oven, washing machine and dishwasher.
  • There is a Weber-Braai available if you want to cook on the patio.

The views from the patio over the wetland are really spectacular!

WALK THE DOGS

There is a lovely big garden at all of our guesthouses for the dogs to play, all fenced in. One can walk the dog/s on a leash anywhere in the town, it's peaceful and quiet with very little traffic.

The airstrip on the Amersfoort road is a wonderful, open road in which to take your dogs for a long run. Walk down from the strip to Martin's Dam where they can frolic in the water.
